We love to nourish hungry minds! Learners of all ages need refueling during a day in school. With our new kitchen and chef we are able to make sure there’s plenty of delicious, home-cooked food!
We are extremely lucky in that we have our own state of the art kitchen, fully equipped with a training kitchen so that pupils can learn alongside our great chef, Mrs Lisa Lindsey.
Mrs Lindsey serves freshly prepared, home cooked, healthy food which, tastes great. They include a hot breakfast, mid morning snack, hot lunches in the school café and after school care snacks. At the top of our agenda is sourcing local, high quality food wherever possible.
Find out more about Mrs Lindsey below.
Q. Why did you become a chef?
A. I have loved cooking from a very young age, my love of food came from my grandparents!
Q. What is your favourite food?
A. I hate processed food so anything other than that is fine by me. I like the comfort of a jacket potato, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside with a fresh salad and roasted chicken.
Q. Do you like our state of the art kitchen?
A. I do, it has everything you need and it really is the perfect size, even with the children working alongside me!
Q. What inspired you to be a chef?
A. My mum, because we always ate healthily and my dad grew all of our vegetables.
Q. Why do you want to work in this school?
A. Funnily enough I actually came to this school. My heart is in St Merryn so when this job came up I knew it was perfect for me. Now I am here it feels like home. I am the luckiest chef in the world, having an amazing kitchen and working alongside young people.
