Well that was an afternoon we won’t forget in a while! Our poor Starlings class were stranded on their swimming coach trying to get back to school for over 5 hours! The A39 came to a stand still after heavy snowfall caught us all out, immediately freezing and making roads treacherous. A huge well done […]
The children in Starlings class and Robins class had a fantastic visit to the Eden Project. Starlings class took part in a rainforest rangers workshop where they learnt about how to survive in the jungle. This workshop involved learning some important survival skills and an exploration of the rainforest biome looking at what we could […]
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Mrs Brookes today after 10 years with us; we cannot say thank you enough for all that she has done for our pupils and given our special school. Mrs Brookes has been the most wonderful teaching assistant in Year 3/4 for the last 9 years, […]
Starlings class would like to thank the staff at the Cornish Arms for providing us with such an amazing experience this week. The children were shown how to cook a variety of dishes including fresh mussels and homemade honeycomb, we were also lucky enough to be able to have a taste! We talked about planning […]
Wow! We have been blown away by our super star performers this year in both our KS2 production of Joseph, and our KS1 Nativity. These wonderful children never fail to make us proud with the effort they put into learning their parts, and their professionalism when it’s show time! A HUGE thanks to members of […]
The children had a fantastic day raising funds and awareness about children in need. They enjoyed dressing in spots, a cake sale, sporty games, a fashion show and a bring and buy sale. Thank you for all of your generous donations!
Many thanks to all the families who attended the Remembrance service in our packed village church this morning. Every class from school was represented, with all children taking part in the procession and in laying crosses on the war graves. Lots of community members commented on how lovely it was to see the youngest […]
The Wagtails were delighted to welcome Stuart Pate from the Seafood Restaurant to their classroom, especially as he was armed with all the ingredients for creating decorated ginger biscuits! He gave a great demonstration, answered lots of questions and then set the children to work, decorating their own knight’s shield biscuits. Thank you Stuart!
The children in Starlings class have had a fantastic start to their new literacy unit. They went into the woodland and thought about what it might have been like to be one of Robin Hood’s outlaws. Whilst in the woodland they thought about what the could see, hear, smell and touch and even managed to cook […]
Starlings class and the year 1 Robins had a fantastic visit to Pendennis Castle. We searched for some of the different features of a castle and were lucky enough to be treated to an archery display. All children were extremely well behaved and were a credit to St Merryn School.
