Wow what an exciting day we had yesterday… arriving at school in snow!! For lots of pupils this was their first experience of snow in the village and the atmosphere was wonderful. Breakfast club were the first to have a snowball fight, followed by an exciting snowy break time for all.

The KS2 swimmers had a fantastic competition coming 2nd in the small schools event. Well done St Merryn excellent behaviour and teamwork.
The children in Year 4 had an exciting trip to Stein’s Seafood School today. They learnt how to fillet a cod, and then make Thai curry paste and fishcakes. They cooked and ate their own delicious cooking. Yum!
It was lovely to be joined by members of our community for our roast lunch on Wednesday. Thank you to Miss Lindsay for a delicious meal.

The Wagtails displayed their champagne cork nativity scene for the Padstow church crib exhibition as part of the festival. They visited on Friday morning and loved looking at the cribs displayed from all over the world. We were really proud of the children’s behaviour on the visit. Many thanks to our volunteer helpers. .
Wagtails had a fantastic building workshop in the sand garden this afternoon. Paul Mason from Amazon demonstrated how to build strong walls and answered lots of questions about his job. The children got stuck into constructing walls with foundations and staggered joints. Thank you Paul!
Our Chicks and Wrens had a great time this morning decorating the village tree! Thank you to all the parents who helped, Barnecutts for supplying mince pies and the Christmas Lights Committee for inviting Nursery to decorate the tree; a great time was had by all despite the hail shower on the walk home!
